Assemblymember Connolly Passes 14 Bills off the Assembly Floor

Fourteen of Connolly’s bills made it out of the State Assembly and are headed to Senate committees

 

SACRAMENTO, CA – Over the past week, several of Assemblymember Damon Connolly’s (D-San Rafael) bills were successfully voted out of the Assembly and are now on their way to be heard in various Senate committees. This was the first time Asm. Connolly has presented legislation on the Assembly floor since being elected in November. These bills cover a range of issue areas, including organic farming, wildfire mitigation, and public health and safety. They are:

 

  • AB 92 - Bans dangerous individuals from purchasing body armor.
    • Passed the Assembly: 58-13-9
  • AB 99 - Prohibits CalTrans from spraying pesticides in counties that ban the practice.
    • Passed the Assembly: 55-16-9
  • AB 388 - expedites wildfire grants.
    • Passed the Assembly: 76-0-4
  • AB 319 - Directs the Department of Housing and Community Development to review mobile home park inspectors for conflicts of interest.
    • Passed the Assembly: 75-0-5
  • AB 404 - Requires the California Department of Food and Agriculture to evaluate duplicative reporting requirements for organic farmers and streamline the pathway for them to gain official certification.
    • Passed the Assembly: 76-0-4
  • AB 405 - Requires California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to move from a slow, inefficient paper-based registration and payment process for organic businesses, to an online system.
    • Passed the Assembly: 76-0-4
  • AB 408 – Asm. Connolly is joint-authoring this bill which proposes a $3.4 billion bond for the November 2024 ballot to invest in creating a more equitable and climate resilient food and farming system.
    • Passed the Assembly: 67-9-4
  • AB 620 - Requires health plans to cover medical nutrition therapy for metabolic and digestive diseases.
    • Passed the Assembly: 73-0-7
  • AB 935 - Explicitly authorizes the CA Dept. of Health and the Attorney General to enforce the flavored tobacco ban.
    • Passed the Assembly: 61-14-5
  • AB 953 - Tasks the Ocean Protection Council to create a statewide voluntary vessel speed reduction and sustainable shipping program for the California coast in order to reduce air pollution, the risk of fatal vessel strikes on whales, and harmful underwater acoustic impacts.
    • Passed the Assembly: 80-0-0
  • AB 998 - Requires the California Energy Commission to issue a report on biomass combustion facilities still in operation as of January 1, 2024.
    • Passed the Assembly: 80-0-0
  • AB 1109 - Prohibits the sale of sodium nitrite to teenagers to prevent this deadly chemical from being used to commit suicide.  
    • Passed the Assembly: 75-0-5
  • AB 1132 - Asm. Connolly is joint-authoring this bill which extends the sunset date on the limits on permit fees a city or county may charge for residential and commercial solar energy systems.
    • Passed the Assembly: 79-0-1
  • AB 1567 - Asm. Connolly is joint-authoring this bill which places a $15.955 billion climate resilience general obligation bond before the voters on the March 5, 2024, Primary Election ballot.
    • Passed the Assembly: 63-0-17

Assemblymember Connolly represents the entirety of Marin County and Southern Sonoma County
