Assemblymember Connolly Issues Statement on ICE Raids & Illegal Federal Action in Los Angeles County

SACRAMENTO, CA – Following a press conference with the Los Angeles Legislative Delegation demanding an end to the illegal Federal actions in Los Angeles County, Assembly Damon Connolly (D-San Rafael) released the following statement:

“This is a critical moment for California and our entire nation,” said Assemblymember Connolly. “ICE has unjustly arrested labor leader David Huerta, targeted hard working families with no criminal record, and now, the Trump Administration is threatening to use military force against their own citizens. The unprecedented and unnecessary deployment of the National Guard is an obvious attempt to exploit tensions with the hope that violence will occur. We cannot take the bait. I was proud to stand in solidarity with my colleagues from Los Angeles today to support peaceful protests against the Trump Administration and their illegal actions. We will not let Donald Trump exploit our state for political gain.”

Assemblymember Tina McKinnor (D-Inglewood), Chair of the LA County Legislative Delegation hosted a press conference to demand an end to the lawless and unconstitutional actions by the Federal Administration in Los Angeles County.
