SACRAMENTO, CA – On Thursday, November 13th, Petaluma Mobile Residents United and Golden State Manufactured-Home Owners League (GSMOL) awarded Assemblymember Damon Connolly (D-San Rafael) the ‘Legislator of the Year’ award for all his dedicated work towards ensuring mobilehome residents are being afforded transparency and receive fair treatment. Assemblymember Connolly has prioritized the protection of mobilehome residents throughout his tenure and plans to continue leading in this space.
“It is an honor to be awarded 'Legislator of the Year’ and I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to work alongside the mobile home community,” said Assemblymember Connolly. “Mobilehome parks are a key source of affordable housing in California’s communities, and residents deserve a safe avenue to buy, sell, and live comfortably.”
This year alone, he introduced two bills aimed at continuing the effort towards housing affordability, AB 456 and AB 806, which have been signed into law:
- AB 456: Improves the buying and selling process for mobilehome owners, ensuring that the process is completed in a timely manner and without interference.
- AB 806: Prohibits mobilehome owners from penalizing residents from installing cooling systems in their homes
Mobilehome parks remain a key source of affordable housing in our communities, and it is critical that California continues to create legislation that sustains affordability and safeguards the rights and living conditions of residents. Assemblymember Connolly remains committed to ensuring mobilehome park residents receive transparency and fair treatment, and looks forward to continuing his leadership in this area.
