Assemblymember Connolly Hosts Contest for New State Legislation Ideas

“There Ought to be a Law” contest invites residents of Assembly District 12 to share their ideas for potential legislation to improve our community

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO, CA –Assemblymember Damon Connolly (D-San Rafael) is hosting his second official "There Ought to Be a Law" contest. This program allows residents of Assembly District 12 (AD12) to propose new state legislation that could improve the lives of 38.9 million Californians, particularly those in the North Bay.

Last year, over 200 ideas came in from constituents throughout the North Bay. With such enthusiasm, Assemblymember Connolly is excited to introduce this opportunity again for his second year in the State Legislature and bring the ideas of AD12 residents to Sacramento. North Bay residents are passionate, engaged, and involved in their local communities, and we look forward to hearing their ideas for potential legislation that addresses the issues most important to Marin and Sonoma County.

Proposals can include ideas for local community improvements, statewide reform, revisions to existing laws, entirely new policies, budget requests and funding proposals, and more. To submit your ideas, visit Assemblymember Connolly’s website and fill out the form before January 22. This contest is open to all AD12 residents. After the contest closes, participants will be contacted directly to discuss their ideas and announce the contest winner.

Contest winners are invited to Sacramento for a tour of the State Capitol and may even have an opportunity to testify on behalf of their bill at a formal hearing. But the real prize is knowing that your idea has the potential to become law across California!
